Wild bees are strictly protected, but you can still buy them online to have the fruit trees in your own garden pollinated. This poses great risks for their relatives living in the wild, but nature regulates this in its own way, as our author learned in a self-experiment.
In the spring I had (supposedly) opened Pandora’s box. My daughter had received a wooden treasure box from a friend. Inside were around 50 dark-brown, oblong-oval red mason bee pupae, which were supposed to hatch at appropriate temperatures and pollinate the fruit trees in the garden.
