The prize for the most ingenious contribution to the current cannabis debate goes to the CDU’s SME Association. The ladies and gentlemen from the economic wing recently tweeted happily: We would like to visit them at their stand at a meeting of the Junge Union. “We have the cannabis of the commoners: beer”. That was ironic because the CDU members mocked the traffic light parties’ requests for legalization. But it was also a nice way of admitting that for decades you had criminalized something that belonged primarily to “the others”. To the non-bourgeois.
