A traditional alcove in the bedroom
The alcove is a space arranged in the bedroom, specifically to install the bed. It can be made up of a recess or a simple niche.
If your alcove lacks a little depth, it is interesting to play with the decor to accentuate and sublimate it. Here, we opted for a floral wallpaper and a very current pink, which puts it nicely in value. The bench and the suspensions that skilfully frame the bed contribute to creating a very cozy atmosphere.
For more decoration contemporarywe use a dark color in this niche: the alcove then gains in depth and intimacy.
The alcove sometimes looks like an extension of a room, barely wide enough to accommodate the bed and generally has no window. Traditionally, we isolate it by using curtains, to make it cozier. In this type of configuration, it is wise to opt for light colors and to work on the light – by using wall lights or well-oriented recessed spotlights, so as not to be blinded.
An improvised alcove
Very common in old buildings, alcoves tend to be rarer in modern constructions. But don’t worry: that doesn’t mean you have to give it up!
The bed bridge is the easiest way to create an alcove in the bedroom. This option is all the smarter because it allows you tooptimize the wall surface and to have functional storage and spacious.
In this small, long bedroom, we simply used a curtain to create a very cozy alcove at the back of the room. We like the choice of a muted color on the wall, which softens the brightness and create a more cocooning atmosphere in the alcove, without darkening it.
