Bedbugs reported in a line 8 metro

Where will they stop? On Wednesday, a train driver on line 8 of the Paris metro reported the presence of bedbugs in his cabin, according to The Parisian. Information confirmed by RATP.

After housing, cinemas and the TGV, the insect could therefore have found a new playground in the region’s public transport. If the transport authority confirms the report, it assures that, “to date, no proven case of bedbugs has been observed in our equipment (metro, RER, tramway and bus). »

Unions demand global treatment of trains

As a preventive measure, however, the train was removed from service to be assessed “in accordance with the planned protocol” and that it will be “treated by a specialized company if the presence of the pest is proven”.

Following this announcement, the Force Ouvrière union asked management that staff premises and all metro and RER trains also be treated, prioritizing lines including driver’s cabin seats with fabric that could be targeted by bedbugs, namely lines 7,8 and 13. The management nevertheless reminds that all transport equipment is cleaned regularly and that spot treatments with insecticide are carried out.
