Beautiful mess on the island of Nantes after a pipe break

The Loire-Atlantique firefighters intervened on Sunday evening for flooding in several streets on the island of Nantes. The rain was not in question but indeed a burst pipe, rue de la Porte Gellée, near the Wattignies tram station (lines 2 and 3).

Around 8 p.m., the water quickly spread in several streets, forcing traffic to be diverted, in particular that of the very busy Boulevard des Martyrs Nantes and Boulevard Gustave-Roch. An underground car park housing 40 cars was heavily flooded, say firefighters.

The pipeline was closed in the evening by the metropolitan water service. Some 120 homes will be deprived of drinking water in the next few hours.

This Monday morning, the Nantes Martyrs Boulevard, which connects the Pirmil and Audibert bridges, remains partially closed. The circulation of trams, on the other hand, is maintained.
