Elton shoots against ProSieben, RTL would like to welcome the presenter to the broadcasting family.

Matthias Opdenhövel (53) replaces his colleague Elton (53) will be the presenter of “Schlag den Star” in the future. While ProSieben station manager Hannes Hiller suggests that the time has probably come for Elton to “change clubs”, RTL program director Inga Leschek would like to welcome the entertainer to the station family.

Elton had previously written on Instagramthat he was not giving up “this wonderful broadcast voluntarily”. Only after his management called the ProSieben boss due to rumors about his “Beat the Star” exit did the moderator find out about it. He explains it like this: “ProSieben seems to find it too much for me to work at RTL. Suddenly!!!!” His shows “Schlag den Besten” and “Blamieren oder Kassieren”, which he has moderated for RTL since 2023 and 2024 respectively, were initially offered to ProSieben. Then the rival station struck when they said they had “no money and no broadcasting space” for it. Elton is “really speechless, angry but above all extremely sad. I’m not even granted a farewell show after 23 years at ProSieben.”

Star striker Elton? 1-0 for Bayer Leverkusen

On April 10th, ProSieben made it public in a press release that Opdenhövel would take over Elton’s “Schlag den Star”. While Hiller thanked Elton “heartily for the great entertainment” that Elton provided during his time at the station in a statement, the whole thing sounds good in an interview with the media magazine “DWDL” already much more sober. “I’ll try a picture from football,” explains the station manager when asked by the presenter. “If someone has been playing regularly for BVB for years, but then increasingly cheers for FC Bayern in the fan block, a question inevitably arises: When is the right time to change clubs?”

Leschek stays with football in a statement published on “RTL.de”.: “Elton has always played for different clubs in the past. That was totally fine for everyone involved who worked with him. If ProSieben changes its strategy now, that’s fair enough. But when it comes to football comparisons, then We are more like Bayer Leverkusen than Bayern.” She is obviously alluding to the fact that Leverkusen is leading the Bundesliga table well ahead of Munich in the current season.

Elton is simply “extremely authentic”

Now that the long-time “Schlag den Star” presenter may now have time for other jobs, RTL is apparently thinking about expanding Elton’s commitment to the station. “We love Elton. And if he suddenly has a little more time, then the RTL family will of course welcome him with open arms,” Leschek continues. He is “extremely authentic”, you can “simply take away every emotion” from him and the presenter is also a favorite of the viewers. To stay with football: It is already certain that he will also moderate “The RTL EM Studio – All games, goals, emotions” during the home European Championships this year.

Instead of a farewell show from ProSieben, the 53-year-old will now receive a small welcome from RTL. “We have another offer for him: a welcome show. He’s now coming to our program on Saturday in primetime with ‘Three against One’. And I think that’s a fantastic stage to show yourself well ” says Leschek. “Three against one – The Show of Champions”, in which Elton will be seen alongside Jens “Knossi” Knossalla (37) and Tim Mälzer (53), is currently on the RTL program schedule for April 20th and April 27th. The show is moderated by Laura Wontorra (35).
