If you travel in the off-season, you save money and get more rest. Some destinations in Italy, for example, still offer bathing weather in October.
Beach holidays in autumn are also possible without very long flights. If you want to avoid heat and crowds, you will find… From Italy to Greece and Cyprus, there are places by the sea that invite you to relax and soak up the sun in October. Outside school holidays, sun-seekers can enjoy themselves here:
Sicily
Temperatures are around 25 degrees and the water is still pleasant for swimming: in Sicily you can enjoy a mostly sunny October, for example on the beach of San Vito Lo Capo. The coastal community in northwest Sicily is famous for its beach, overlooked by Monte Monaco. If you want to experience more than just swimming, you can also go hiking or sightseeing in Sicily in October. A flight from Munich takes around two hours.
Sardinia
In addition to Sicily, the Italian island of Sardinia also offers an ideal mix of pleasant temperatures in October, which are still suitable for swimming, and calm conditions without crowds of tourists. Holidaymakers who like a combination of beach and active holidays will now get their money’s worth. From soaking up the sun, for example at the Spiaggia di Monte Cogoni, to sport and culture, everything is on offer. The flight time to Sardinia from Frankfurt is around two hours.
Rhodes
Fans of warm but not too hot temperatures can also explore the Greek islands in a pleasant way in autumn. On Rhodes, for example, Anthony Quinn Bay near Faliraki is ideal for snorkeling and swimming – at least if you don’t mind pebble beaches. Amateur archaeologists can go on a discovery tour away from the beach, for example in the old town of Rhodes. It takes around three hours to fly to the island from Germany.
Cyprus
Even in Cyprus the sea is still warm enough for swimming in October. There is a large selection of wonderful beaches, for example the famous Nissi Beach. In addition, the island in the eastern Mediterranean offers explorers archaeological sites, picturesque villages, national parks and fortresses with temperatures around 25 degrees. Holidaymakers from Germany spend around 3.5 hours on the plane to Cyprus.
