Be careful, “dangerous” stuffed animals circulate on the stalls

Not-so-cute stuffed animals. Following a check carried out in mid-August on a market in the Hautes-Pyrénées, the prefect of the department drew the attention of consumers to toys, and in particular stuffed animals, “non-compliant and dangerous”. In particular those circulating in “markets, fairgrounds, tourist sites, fairs where operators are often unfamiliar with the regulations relating to the safety of toys”.

A dog, available in several colors and which barks when it is moved, is in the crosshairs of the inspectors of competition, consumption and repression of fraud (DGCCRF). Not only does he not present the mandatory information but above all, “his eyes could be removed without force with a finger on the day of the check. It also looks very similar to a model already withdrawn from sale last summer “because of the detachment of small elements”.

Indigestible bubble tea

The other alert concerns “bubble tea” soft toys, of which we know nothing of the manufacturer and origin. In addition, they have a zipper allowing direct access to their padding, with the risk of swallowing and choking that this entails for small children.

In general, the authorities point out that all soft toys – or soft toy key rings – must have a CE marking. They must also include at least a manufacturer’s origin or a batch or serial number.

The list of products dangerous for consumption can be consulted on the website Drink reminder.
