BayernLB boss’s contract extended by five years

Stephan Winkelmeier is to remain at the helm of BayernLB until 2029. The supervisory board has extended its contract, which expires in just under a year, by five years, the Landesbank announced on Thursday in Munich. The 55-year-old came to BayernLB in 2019 from the “bad bank” FMS Wertmanagement. From 2011 to 2014 Winkelmeier had already worked as CFO for the Landesbank. “In recent years, we have not only developed the bank strategically, but also culturally and successfully repositioned the bank despite the critical environment,” said Winkelmeier. “In particular, the strategic realignment of the core bank towards a focused specialist financier and the further development of DKB (…) are closely linked to his name,” said Wolf Schumacher, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
