Bayern masters the first hurdle Inter Milan: The Munich in the individual criticism

FC Bayern was able to beat Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League opener: Sané, Kimmich and de Ligt in particular were decisive for this.

FC Bayern is there with a 2-0 away win Inter Milan got off to an excellent start in the Champions League season. Julian Nagelsmann’s team was (almost) always concentrated over the 90 minutes and was able to set the crucial pinpricks. Man of the day from Munich’s point of view was Leroy Sané, who scored the 1-0 himself and forced D’Ambrosio’s own goal. We take a look at the performances of the Bayern players.

1. Manuel Neuer

Of the Bayern goalkeeper parried the few and not really dangerous shots confidently. Otherwise, he also showed himself without any major weaknesses, although daring dribbling and two or three imprecise kicks would certainly have been avoided.

Rating: 7/10

2.Benjamin Pavard

Pavard was rarely found offensively as it was his job to defend in the last line along with de Ligt and Hernández. Apart from an unnecessary bad pass in the early stages, the Frenchman acted calmly as usual, albeit not very spectacularly. In the tricky situations, Pavard could be relied on, although he could have acted more uncompromisingly in some direct duels.

Rating: 7/10

3. Matthijs de Ligt

The Dutchman carried a yellow card for a long time, but that didn’t stop him from an almost flawless defensive performance. The new signing showed a strong positional play and usually fought his duels successfully. Only very rarely was he a touch late. De Ligt always knew what to do with the ball when building up the game, even if he mostly left it with safe and short passes.

Rating: 8/10

4. Lucas Hernandez

Hernández was extremely present in the duels and won eight of his nine duels. His block in the 55th minute against Bastoni, which may have prevented a goal, was also important. In the closing stages, however, the Frenchman lost his concentration a little and made a disastrous bad pass, which fortunately Correa was not able to punish.

Rating: 7/10

5.Alphonso Davies

Of the Roadrunner made a few inadequacies early on and was partly responsible for Inter having too much space down the right flank. After 20 to 25 minutes, however, he stabilized and showed one or the other important rescue operation. On the way forward, light and shadow alternated for the Canadian. For example, his conclusion after almost half an hour was strong, which Onana could only parry with a brilliant reflex. His crosses, on the other hand, could be developed, and in particular a cross just before the break whistle, in which Davies had all the options and carried the ball into the stands.

Rating: 6/10

6. Joshua Kimmich

The midfield leader made one or the other bad pass at the beginning, but was soon able to remedy these shortcomings. Kimmich tirelessly drove the game and shone with precise long passes. His pass to Leroy Sané before the 1-0 was particularly strong. Kimmich himself was also dangerous with his degrees, at least in the initial phase. The 27-year-old was not above any path or duel, but he also lost a few duels. His mentality and his ball skills were again decisive.

Rating: 8/10

7. Marcel Sabitzer

Similar to the last few games, the Austrian acted rather inconspicuously alongside Kimmich. As a result, he often had his neighbor’s back free. Sabitzer is currently not an important factor on the way forward, but defensively he is a stabilizer. Seven out of nine duels won prove that again.

Rating: 7/10

8. Kingsley Coman

The winger was not always successful with his nimble dribbling, but steadily improved as the game progressed. Coman prepared a Müller chance worth seeing in the first round and also finished in a good position once or twice. However, by far his best action came before D’Ambrosio’s own goal. His double one-two with Sané was simply brilliant.

Rating: 7/10

9. Thomas Muller

Müller had one or the other good chance to finish, especially in the first half, but he failed several times due to Onana. In the second section, the Raumdeutewr didn’t come into its own, although he didn’t do much wrong. Ultimately, however, his actions were not decisive.

Rating: 6/10

10. Leroy Sané

The offensive player was the best player on the pitch today. Sané was always a movement and involved in numerous attacks. His receiving and taking the ball as well as his dribbling against Onana were sensational before he put the ball into the box to make it 1-0. Equally terrific was his interaction with Kingsley Coman before the 2-0, which ended with an own goal from D’Ambrosio, although the international actually wanted to serve Mané. All in all, definitely a very strong performance.

Rating: 9/10

11. Sadio Mane

The attacker didn’t get into the game very well at first and had to fight for every ball. Only 30 ball contacts show that the Senegalese was less integrated into the game than his attacking teammates, who all recorded almost twice as many actions. Nevertheless, the ex-Liverpooler could at least occasionally become dangerous. His best chance came midway through the second half when his shot from the near corner was deflected by Onana. In a way, he was also involved in the 2-0, as D’Ambrosio had to go to the ball before the lurking Mané.

Rating: 6/10

12. Leon Goretzka (from 61st)

The midfielder needed a few minutes to get into the game, but then completed his duties with ease. Goretzka brought his balls to the man and also showed a good presence in the duels. Otherwise you didn’t see anything spectacular, but you can say with good reason that nothing would stand in the way of a starting eleven.

Rating: 7/10

13. Serge Gnabry (from 75th)

Gnabry came 15 minutes before the end and would have had a chance or two to make it 3-0. However, either his degree didn’t work or the joker didn’t make the right decision with the decisive pass.

Rating: 5/10

14. Dayot Upamecano (from 75th)

The Frenchman didn’t act quite as confidently as at the start of the season. Although his duel lead was mostly good, he didn’t seem safe on the ball in every situation. Currently, de Ligt and Hernández seem to be a bit stronger.

Rating: 5/10

15. Josip Stanisisc (from 84th)

The Croatian international arrived in what was at least a somewhat tricky phase, but he didn’t let it bother him. His few actions all looked clarified.

16. Yamal Musiala

The youngster came just before the end and was therefore hardly able to show anything. His few passes arrived at the teammates.
