The double is within reach for Bayer Leverkusen, even the triple is possible. But coach Xabi Alonso definitely doesn’t want to celebrate too early.

Coach Xabi Alonso wants to achieve despite the double being within reach Don’t let Bayer Leverkusen be lulled into security.

“The fans remember Unterhaching and the past,” said Alonso, referring to the championship title in 2000 that was lost on the last match day: “They are patient. We want to celebrate when there is something to celebrate. Now is not the moment yet celebrate. It’s still too early. That’s why we’re not talking about the championship yet, we’re talking about the next opponent.”

Of course, the former world and European champion is also aware of the good starting position, given that he is 13 points ahead of FC Bayern. “The situation is very good right now. We have a great chance,” said Alonso: “We can achieve big goals in all competitions. We are in the position that we can win something. But it’s not over until it’s over “Anything can happen in football.”

If Leverkusen, who are unbeaten in 40 competitive games, win at 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) and Bayern lose at newly promoted Heidenheim at the same time, the title decision would theoretically be possible a week later. There are still seven games left to play. Bayer is also the clear favorite in the cup final on May 25th against second division team 1. FC Kaiserslautern, and in the quarter-finals of the Europa League the Werkself will face West Ham United from London.
