Bavaria’s Protestant state synod meets for the first time after the abuse study – Bavaria

Detlef Zander chooses drastic words: “The abuse scandal is a shot in the neck for the institution.” It is dead quiet in the hall of the congress center in Coburg. Zander hurls his words at the members of the Protestant state synod: “How you deal with this issue will determine how your church continues to exist!” Zander is spokesman for the Participation Forum (Befo) Sexualized Violence of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). As a child he was abused and raped for years in a home of the Korntal Brethren Community. This Monday he will speak at the spring meeting of the Bavarian Church Parliament.
