Bavarian cabaret awards: Markus Lanz parodist Florian Schroeder wins – Munich

With humor

Florian Schroeder, 44, can be happy about the Bavarian Cabaret Prize. The cabaret artist and presenter from Lörrach, who is known, among other things, for his Markus Lanz parodies, will receive the main prize this year. Schroeder is a bridge builder who doesn’t make things easy for his audience with surprising twists and sarcasm, the jury wrote in its reasons for choosing Schroeder. He is quick to think and speak and has immense knowledge of current topics. In his programs he dissects hot topics such as right-wing extremism, autocracies and the Germany ticket.

In the “Music” category Bodo Wartke excellent. The 46-year-old Berliner by choice with Hamburg roots impressed the jurors with his passion for cabaret, his wit and his virtuosity on the piano. The honorary award goes to the Bavarian comedian duo Claudia Schlenger and Hanns Meilhamer, who are also a couple in private life. The 25-year-old received the high-flyer prize Ana Lucia from Munich. Her remarkably easy handling of sensitive topics such as depression, virginity and bullying earned her this award. The comedian and video producer Phil Laude will also receive the “Creator Prize”, which was only created in 2023.

The Bavarian Cabaret Prize has been awarded since 1999 and is an initiative of the Bavarian Radio and the Munich Lustspielhaus. The awards ceremony will also take place there on November 4th. According to BR Eva will be through the evening Karl Faltermeier and Michael Altinger lead.

Instead of Venice

The black and gold vehicle is polished, Maximilian Koch swaps his business outfit for a blue and white striped T-shirt and straw hat: Since Sunday, rides in an original Venetian gondola have been taking place again in the Nymphenburg Palace Park. Koch and his son Maximilian “Maxi” – the two gondoliers run an insurance office as their main job – take turns rowing guests across the central canal. Although there are no palaces along the shore, it is still romantic. And even more romantic when the tenor Giuseppe Del Duca is on board. Further information: www.gondel-nymphenburg.de.

For the climate

Researchers from Munich, Kaiserslautern and Leipzig are starting a long-term study into environmental awareness, environmental and protest behavior as well as environmental inequality in Germany. Leads the project Katrin Auspurg, Professor of Quantitative Methods in Social Research at the LMU. “Only with good data are the social sciences able to provide key impetus for climate science through a better understanding of human behavior,” explains Auspurg in an LMU press release. In addition to data on redistribution effects, insights into the attitudes and behavior of the population are also particularly important. The Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau and the University of Leipzig are also involved in the “German Longitudinal Environmental Study” (GLEN). The project is initially being funded by the German Research Society with six million euros for three years. A term of twelve years and 20 million euros in funding are planned.

Of voles

Martina Pahr attracted attention at the German Garden Book Prize with her crime novel “Only the Vole Was Witness” (Emons). She has now received second prize in the “Garden Prose and Poetry” category. At the award ceremony at Dennenlohe Castle in Unterschwaningen, Central Franconia, the Munich author thanked her so eloquently that she was immediately invited to a reading at the upcoming Garden Days. This year they will take place from May 9th to 12th, and Pahr will read from her new book on Sunday, May 12th at 3 p.m. The story about Valentina takes place in an allotment garden settlement. Pahr knows what she is writing about, she knows the milieu. For years she has been cultivating a small garden herself, fighting against snails (“they thrive best”) and growing mainly snack vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers as well as radishes and radishes. Another focus in their idyll is various local berries and sea buckthorn, the “lemon of the north”.

“In an allotment garden, people come together who would hardly have any contact with one another beyond the hedges,” says Pahr. There is a different hierarchy here, based on competence, experience and networking. When you sit comfortably together, you often learn more than you usually know about your neighbors. Such conversations inspired the author and former tour guide to write her crime novel. This is designed in such a way that it could become a series. On Monday evening, March 25th, Pahr can be seen in the clubhouse at “Blickpunkt Spot”.

The Beatles already incorporated animal noises into their songs. In his song “Train” Paul Kalkbrenner used sounds that arise in the Berlin subways when passengers get on. Also Daniel Door works with sounds. The noise artist, who lives in Munich and Neubiberg, will focus primarily on noise in a lecture on Saturday, March 30th. The graduate of the Munich Art Academy will perform a wide variety of variations. The session will take place in the “Listening” series in Munich’s Lothringer 13 gallery, starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
