Zwiesel Kristallglas AG has merged with the US company Fortessa Tableware Solutions. This will create “a unique global company,” said the glass manufacturer recently. The aim is to become the “world market leader for the well-laid table”. The companies had previously cooperated under the United Tables brand. This cooperation is now to be deepened further, with each company wanting to continue to operate independently.
Both see the merger as “a logical step in strategic further development and international positioning”: According to their own statements, cutlery, porcelain and glass from Fortessa can often be found in the North American hotel industry, among other things. On the other hand, Zwiesel Glas, which was founded a good 150 years ago, is intended to bring in its market shares in Europe and the Middle East. However, the Lower Bavarians want to continue to produce in Zwiesel and Hungary.
