The Allgäu Airport in Memmingen is heading for a record year, the airport is expecting more than 1.72 million passengers, the best result so far from 2019. As the “airport of winter sports enthusiasts”, Managing Director Ralf Schmid is also hoping for tourists who are enthusiastic about skiing in the coming months from Great Britain and Eastern Europe who travel to the Allgäu or the neighboring mountain regions. However, the question arises as to whether so many guests actually come: Inflation and energy costs present winter sports with major challenges.
