Bavaria: Why is 30 km/h speed limit so difficult to enforce in front of schools? – Bavaria

Cars should drive carefully in front of schools, warns the Bavarian Interior Minister. However, speed limits of 30 km/h are often not that easy to enforce there. Citizens from Neumarkt-Sankt Veit have now submitted a petition to the state parliament.

“Never drive too fast, especially not around schools. A school child could suddenly run across the street at any time!” With this urgent request Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) addressed all drivers at the beginning of the school year last fall. First graders in particular are still inexperienced in road traffic and often misjudge dangers, he warned.
