Bavaria: veterinary offices are poorly equipped against animal diseases – Bavaria

The BSE crisis in Bavaria is now 23 years ago. But anyone who can experience them can remember the horror and helplessness of the farmers when the veterinarians first closed their stables and a little later ordered the culling of their cattle. BSE, or mad cow disease as the animal disease is commonly known, has been a thing of the past for years. Today, farmers fear African swine fever, bird flu and foot-and-mouth disease. But the veterinary authorities are ill-prepared. The Bavarian Supreme Court of Auditors (ORH) has now established this.
