The US armed forces have announced a large, multi-week maneuver for mid-May at the Grafenwöhr military training area in the Upper Palatinate. The Amberg-Sulzbach district office pointed this out on Thursday. As the authority announced, 1,500 NATO soldiers will be practicing with more than 650 wheeled and tracked vehicles and 50 helicopters from May 13th to June 11th. Some of the training also takes place at night. Logistics convoys, artillery, field posts, maneuver ammunition and pyrotechnics would be used. Communities in Upper Palatinate and Middle Franconia are affected.
