Bavaria: Two storks shot with shotgun ammunition – Bavaria

Two storks are believed to have been shot with shotgun ammunition in Lower Bavaria. As the police announced on Monday, the first bird was found injured on Sunday by employees of the municipal building yard in Pfarrkirchen (Rottal-Inn district).

Another stork was discovered injured near the adjacent sewage treatment plant on Monday. A police spokesman said the injuries to both birds could be the result of firing buckshot. The nearby stork nest was checked using a drone camera, but no other injured animals were initially found there. The two injured storks are receiving veterinary treatment.

The police are investigating possible violations of the Federal Nature Conservation Act, the Animal Welfare Act and the Weapons Act.
