Bavaria: Too many deer at Königssee – Bavaria

So many red deer live around the Königssee that the Berchtesgaden National Park now wants to examine new hunting strategies with a research project. This should expressly include so-called regulation or removal gates. The animals that are to be killed are separated into a gate and then shot in the head one by one within a short period of time. The method is not only very efficient, but also conforms to animal welfare from the point of view of experts. It has been practiced in the Bavarian Forest National Park for many years. Among hunters, however, regulatory gates are highly controversial as “unhunting”.
