Bavaria: The winter is a short guest appearance – Bavaria

It’s a good thing that there’s still no football game in Roßhaupten am Allgäu. Because snow and cold are back in Bavaria – and will probably stay for a few more days. That’s what the German Weather Service (DWD) expects. In the Alps, the DWD expects five to ten centimeters of fresh snow by Monday due to the cold and damp air. It’s not supposed to snow in the lowlands, but the snow that has fallen so far is supposed to stay put for the time being. It also remains smooth in the Free State.

Already at the weekend, snow and ice caused several slippery accidents. While many of these were not taken lightly, there were also accidents with serious injuries. In the case of snow showers and a slippery road, for example, a 22-year-old skidded his car in Lehrberg (Ansbach district) in Central Franconia. He collided head-on with a car in the accident on Saturday, the police said on Sunday. The driver, the 22-year-old passenger and the 19-year-old driver of the second car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. According to the police, there is no danger to life.

For the coming week, the weather service expects partially freezing wet. In the whole of Free State, the temperature at night is well below zero, said a spokesman on Sunday. It stays cold even during the day. With a few exceptions, the temperatures will not rise above five degrees.
