Bavaria: The new state farmer Christine Singer in an interview – Bavaria

The new state farmer Christine Singer in conversation about role models on the farms and in the farmers’ association, meat in the school canteen, well-connected villagers. And how it feels to be the only woman on the municipal council.

Interviewed by

John Osel

Christine Singer recently became the new state farmer, i.e. the top rural woman in the Free State, and has been active in the Bavarian Farmers’ Association (BBV) for 25 years. The 57-year-old, who runs a dairy farm with 50 cows and a wood chip system in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with her family, comes to the interview on crutches. During the main alpine pasture tour in August, she stumbled and broke her ankle, tibia and fibula. That requires a bit of gentleness just before the start of the new task. Mei, she says, the foot will have to carry her to the end of her life, honorary posts won’t last that long.
