For two years, Elisabeth-Singer Brehm has been working through meters of files in Bavarian archives. The folklorist and Judaizer at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation (BLfD) records all the desecrations of Jewish cemeteries in Bavaria – before, after and during the Second World War. Even though the focus of the complex project is on the period after May 1945, it is intended to provide the first overview of how this anti-Semitic phenomenon made and continues to make its way through the centuries. The final results are expected to be published in 2025. But there are already some findings from the first systematic study of this kind.
