Bavaria: Taşdelen resigns as SPD general secretary – Bavaria

Arif Taşdelen resigns from his position as General Secretary of the Bavarian SPD. The politician announced this in a written statement on Tuesday afternoon. Allegations had previously been made that the member of parliament had behaved inappropriately towards young women. The social democratic youth organization Jusos had therefore declared the SPD general secretary to be an undesirable person at its events.

“For months I have been confronted with allegations and rumors about my communication within the party and with public prejudice,” said Taşdelen, justifying his resignation with the burden on him and his family. The resignation of the party strategist coincides with the start of the state election campaign in Bavaria that is now beginning. “I want to help my party to start this very important state election year without distractions,” said Taşdelen.
