There have been several accidents in Bavaria due to snow and ice. On Monday evening and on Tuesday night, the police reported numerous accidents due to the weather conditions. In many places there was minor property damage – in Selb (district of Wunsiedel) a woman was seriously injured. She skidded due to the slippery snow and got into oncoming traffic.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there will be light frost in large parts of Bavaria on Tuesday morning. Therefore, there can be local slipperiness. During the day there can be one to five centimeters of fresh snow. In the Alps and the low mountain ranges, it should snow up to 20 centimeters above 600 meters. According to the DWD, there will be more rain later in the day. From the afternoon on, the thaw sets in, especially in the low mountain ranges.
The DWD warns of gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour in the low mountain ranges and in the foothills of the Alps. In the Allgäu there can be heavy squalls on Tuesday lunchtime.
