Bavaria records second warmest October since 1881 – Bavaria

According to preliminary values, October in Bavaria was the second warmest since at least 1881. With an expected average temperature of 11.6 degrees, it shares this title with the year 2001, as the German Weather Service announced on Monday. Only in 2022 was it warmer at 11.9 degrees.

All of this is significantly higher than the average temperature for the reference period 1961 to 1990, which is 8.1 degrees. The highest temperature of the month measured by the DWD in the Free State was recorded on October 3rd at 29.8 degrees in Elsendorf in Lower Bavaria. At 140 hours, the sunshine duration was also significantly above the average of the reference period, which is 118 hours.

Bavaria was the sunniest and driest federal state in October. At 66 liters per square meter, precipitation was above the average for the reference period in Bavaria, but nationwide October was significantly wetter than usual.
