Bavaria: Prime Minister Söder signs the condolence book for Alois Glück – Bavaria

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) honored the deceased former CSU top politician Alois Glück with an entry in the condolence book on Tuesday. Together with State Parliament President Ilse Aigner and parliamentary group leader Klaus Holetschek (CSU), he signed the book, which is available in the State Parliament.

The long-time CSU parliamentary group leader and state parliament president Alois Glück died on Monday at the age of 84. There was great consternation across all parties; luck was seen as a mediator and as a bridge builder; he was valued by many people. Söder called him “one of the greatest and most important politicians in our country.”

Alois Glück was born in the Traunstein district and had to take over his parents’ farm at the age of 17 because his father died in the war. He later went into politics and became involved in environmental issues early on. He was also active in the Catholic Church; after 38 years in the state parliament, he was elected president of the Central Committee of Catholics.

Other cabinet members also signed the condolence book. All citizens have this opportunity; it is available daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Maximilianeum until March 8th.
