Bavaria: Possibly more racism incidents at carnival – Bavaria

After suspected racist derailments at carnival events, the police are also investigating in Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria. As the police announced on Friday, “xenophobic” exclamations were said to have been heard at a children’s carnival in a discotheque in Geiersthal in Lower Bavaria (Regen district) on Sunday. Suspects have not yet been identified. The investigation is based on initial suspicion of a crime.

The police in Upper Palatinate are also investigating a possible racist incident at a carnival parade. At an event in Stulln (Schwandorf district) on Sunday, a group of spectators chanted “Foreigners out” as the song “L’Amour toujours” by Gigi D’Agostino was played from a car, a witness told local press representatives. Although no report has been received about the incident so far, the police and public prosecutor’s office are now investigating on their own initiative following corresponding reports.

Similar incidents had previously brought investigators to the scene, including in Landsberg am Lech in Upper Bavaria. There, several people on a train carriage are also said to have chanted “Foreigners Out” to Gigi D’Agostino’s song. The police were investigating suspicions of sedition and looking for witnesses.
