Bavaria: Police warn of manipulated sockets in Zägen – Bavaria

The federal police are again warning about manipulated sockets on trains. On Friday morning, as a passenger on a go-ahead train from Augsburg to Munich, an officer discovered an apparently manipulated socket and informed the train staff, as the Federal Police announced on Sunday. A train attendant made an announcement warning fellow passengers not to use sockets. After the train entered Munich main station, the socket was inspected by federal police who confirmed the suspicion of manipulation. The train was then taken to the Pasing depot, where the socket was replaced. It was said that an investigation was being carried out on suspicion of attempted bodily harm.

After there have been several incidents in the past week with tampered sockets on trains from various railway companies, in which several passengers were injured, the Federal Police is asking travelers to inspect a socket before using it to see whether anything unusual can be noticed and, if so, that Inform railway staff. In August, a woman received an electric shock from a tampered socket during a train journey from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe. According to police reports, the perpetrator or perpetrators pulled thin metal wires out of the socket or inserted them into the train.
