Bavaria: Our daily bread is more expensive – Bavaria

Regardless of whether it is a large corporation or a small family business: bakeries in Bavaria have been under massive cost pressure for several years, which is reflected in rising prices. The reasons for this are diverse.

People in Bavaria seem to like it. People here eat more than 50 kilograms of bread and baked goods per person per year. For a long time, bread and the like were a cheap staple food, but in the last four years, first the corona pandemic and then the Russian invasion of Ukraine put the bakers’ guild under pressure. Since then, prices have almost only known one direction – upwards, as data from the State Office for Statistics show.
