Bavaria ÖDP announces referendum against new nuclear power plants – Bavaria

“If Söder seriously wants to build a new facility, the first thing he has to do is reserve a location,” says party leader Becker. “We will mobilize against this with all means possible, he can rely on that.”

Germany’s return to nuclear power is one of Markus Söder’s favorite demands when he takes a stand against the traffic light government in Berlin. The Prime Minister and CSU boss is no longer just concerned with reactivating shut down plants like Isar 2. But rather with the construction of new reactors. “Our goal must be to actually adopt new nuclear power plants – smaller ones with a completely different energy output, with a completely different absorption of possible waste,” said Söder recently again after a meeting of the CSU board in Munich. The reactivation of the shutdown German reactors is not sufficient. “If we take responsibility from 2025, we will take a completely different path and not just reactivate a few old nuclear power plants,” said Söder, with a view to the Union’s possible participation in government after the next federal election.
