For years, the pond keepers in the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria have been fighting for the state government to relax the strict protection of otters so that they can shoot down the predators more easily if they eat heaps of carp from their ponds. Now the time has come. For a few days, pond keepers have been able to remove conspicuous otters, as the technical jargon calls the shooting of the animals.
