Bavaria: Museums and archives in Coburg establish an emergency network – Bavaria

In Coburg, several museums and archives have joined forces to form a so-called emergency network. As the General Directorate of the Bavarian State Archives announced, there is now such an emergency network at all State Archive locations in Bavaria. In the event of an emergency, the institutions brought together in the association secured mutual support “within the scope of their possibilities”.

Such emergencies can be fires or natural disasters such as floods. Then you support each other in the salvage and initial supply of cultural assets. The Coburg emergency network currently includes the art collections of the Veste, the European Museum for Modern Glass, the Natural History Museum, the State Archives, the State Library, the City Archives and the Municipal Collections. Representatives of other cultural institutions in the city of Coburg are “expressly invited to future cooperation,” it said.

In addition to Coburg, there have been emergency networks at the locations of the state archives in Augsburg since 2015, in Munich and Nuremberg since 2016, in Landshut, Amberg-Sulzbach-Rosenberg and Bamberg since 2019 and in Würzburg since 2022.
