Bavaria: More money for modern cinemas – Bavaria

Cinema operators in Bavaria can look forward to the highest funding amount in ten years. As the Bavarian Film-Television Fund (FFF) announced, 55 Bavarian cinemas will receive grants totaling more than two million euros this year – provided they invest in their own future.

The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital and the FFF specifically support modernization projects such as conversions and extensions of halls and foyers, the purchase of new technology and the setting up of digital customer communication. The money also flows into energy-efficient heating, cooling and LED systems or solar panels. Up to 30 percent of the investment costs can be financed with the grant; Applicants have 18 months to implement it.

In Munich, the modernization projects of Cinema, City, Kino am Olympiasee, Leopold and Rio are supported. In Bavaria there are currently 289 cinemas at 171 locations with a total of 871 screens (as of 2022). According to the FFF, that is as many as before the pandemic.
