Bavaria: Massive failures expected in the fifth GDL strike – Bavaria

In Bavaria, too, the GDL strike on passenger transport began at two o’clock on Thursday. As a spokeswoman for the railway announced this morning, massive disruptions to long-distance, regional and S-Bahn traffic are to be expected. The basic timetable started in the morning and offers a greatly reduced range of journeys. Passengers should find out about their connections before starting their journey.

According to GDL, the strike will last until Friday at 1 p.m. The GDL called for a 35-hour strike on Monday in the collective bargaining dispute with the railway. This is the fifth strike in the conflict that has been going on since November.

The crux of the collective bargaining dispute is the union’s demand to reduce the weekly working hours for shift workers from 38 to 35 hours without financial losses. A four-week negotiation phase behind closed doors failed last week despite the use of external mediators. The union now wants to announce future strikes at much shorter notice than before.
