The first and probably only politician in Bavaria who is to be brought to court for dealing with corona protective masks is a functionary of the Free Voters (FW) from the Upper Palatinate: Matthias Penkala, former state head of the FW youth organization, later head of a local association, City Council, Third Mayor, County Council. According to information from the Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor’s office Süddeutsche Zeitung accused Penkala and one of his partners of suspected fraud amounting to millions of dollars. The two, who were even in custody last year, had sold around eleven million surgical masks to the Free State in April 2020 at a price of almost nine million euros.
