A kayaking trip with his wife on the Main ended fatally for a 58-year-old. The couple capsized their boats at the barrage of a weir near Michelau (Lichtenfels district) on Sunday afternoon, the police announced on Monday. The 52-year-old managed to escape to the shore. According to police, her husband was pulled under by the current. After about half an hour, the water rescue team reportedly found his body and pulled him out of the river. Paramedics took him to hospital with resuscitation measures, but he died in the early afternoon.
