Bavaria: IG Metall and employers together against the AfD – Bavaria

Three months before the European elections, the Bavarian metal employers’ associations and IG Metall are joining forces against the AfD. They are “determined to oppose the AfD in word and deed – in public and in companies,” they wrote in a joint statement published in Munich on Tuesday.

“The AfD’s nationalistic, undemocratic thinking and propaganda against the EU and the euro, its partially anti-American and, above all, pro-Russian thinking massively question the economic success of our country,” the statement said. Fantasies about leaving the EU are a frontal attack on Germany’s economic model and jobs.

IG Metall and the employers’ associations Bayme and VBM called on citizens to “send a clear signal against the AfD and all other radical forces in the European elections on June 9th.” Germany is dependent on workers and skilled workers from abroad. People with a migration background enrich the workforce and are an indispensable part of companies and society. “We oppose all radical political forces that want to damage our democracy, poison the social climate and exclude or even deport people because of their origin,” the statement said. The AfD is obviously a right-wing radical party and “a threat to the prosperity and security of our country.”
