Two rapes, thefts and drug offenses – the news about Regensburg’s train station district has been overwhelming recently. Now it turns out that there was no rape at all. And the question is: how bad is it really?
The crime caused an outcry in Regensburg: a 27-year-old was said to have been raped. One had abused her, the other had confessed to grease. And this in a public place, in broad daylight. Nobody helped. Namely in Fürst-Anselm-Park, the small green strip between the main train station and the city center, which has long been in disrepute. Theft, drugs, it’s all there, even the mayor says she finds the park in her city “threatening.” But a rape in the afternoon in front of everyone? That was a shock for many. And now it comes out: that’s not true at all.
