After he was allegedly attacked by a 17-year-old, a 53-year-old in Immenstadt im Allgäu died despite medical treatment. The autopsy now brings new insights.

After the death of a homeless man Allgäu after a suspected attack by a 17-year-old, the police have new information about the cause of death. The 53-year-old’s autopsy showed that the man died as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage, said a spokesman for the Kempten public prosecutor’s office on Friday. The extent to which the cerebral hemorrhage is related to the beatings of the alleged perpetrator is now a central question in the investigation.

According to their own statements, the police are currently investigating a possible homicide against the teenager, who has been in custody since Tuesday.

After the attack on Tuesday in Immenstadt (Oberallgäu district), officials initially reported that the victim suffered a minor head injury. After the attack on the night of Monday to Tuesday, the man fled to the police station and filed a report. According to a police spokesman, he had “apparently superficial injuries” in the head area and refused medical treatment.

The man later retreated to the lobby of a bank branch to spend the night. He was found there early in the morning in a life-threatening condition and later died despite intensive medical treatment. Based on the description of the victim on the night of the crime, the officers could have caught the suspect, who was known to the police, at home on Tuesday afternoon.
