The factions of the Greens and Free Voters presented various demands at the end of their autumn meetings. According to the will of the Greens in the state parliament, a second pedagogical specialist should always work in all Bavarian school classes in the future. “Team teaching should become the standard in Bavarian schools,” says an eleven-page concept paper that the parliamentary group adopted at its conference in Weiden in der Oberpfalz.
A second force can, but does not necessarily have to, be a teacher. If necessary, curative or social pedagogues, psychologists or educators could also be used, it said on Friday. “We want to start with elementary and secondary schools. In this way, knowledge and skills can be conveyed better and more individually.” The demands on teachers have increased due to inclusion, integration, different knowledge of German among the students, diverse forms of teaching and the desire for individual support.
Green party leader Ludwig Hartmann explained when asked that it was clear that the implementation of this demand “won’t happen overnight” due to the already existing shortage of teachers. It is rather a “medium-term goal”. Co-group leader Katharina Schulze emphasized that it does not always have to be trained teachers who should be used as a second force. School psychologists or other forces could also be used in “multi-professional teams” – “what the class needs”. Now politics must set the framework for this.
In addition, the Greens spoke out in favor of children being able to participate more. In addition to lowering the voting age in the state elections, this also includes the introduction of a child check for all legislative projects. This could be used to systematically check how planned laws would affect young people. “We have to involve young people more in the political decision-making process,” said Schulze.

More nuclear power, less taxes, higher commuter allowances – with a 20-point resolution, the parliamentary group of the Free Voters makes proposals to reduce the high inflation. “We need relief for citizens across the board,” said Free Voters chief and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger on Friday at the end of the autumn retreat in Nördlingen, Swabia. Aiwanger said that tax cuts are not only crucial for energy and electricity, but also that the antitrust authorities have to take a closer look at why the costs for petrol and diesel are significantly higher in Bavaria than in the rest of the country. “It’s not right.” The countermeasures taken so far by the traffic light government have not been sufficient to counteract the dramatic developments.
Aiwanger repeated the long-term demand on the federal government not to shut down the Isar 2 nuclear power plant at the end of the year, as stipulated by the German Atomic Energy Act. In view of the impending energy bottlenecks, it is “downright ridiculous to give people savings tips” because Bavaria’s largest electricity producer is to be shut down for ideological reasons. “We must do everything to provide enough affordable energy.”
In addition, the Free Voters passed a resolution at their meeting that calls for more money for public transport. “Investments in public transport have been significantly reduced in structurally weak regions in recent years. Many bus and train stops have been abandoned and entire sections of track shut down,” said transport policy spokesman Manfred Eibl. With a view to the shortage of skilled workers, the parliamentary group also spoke out in favor of supporting the trades more. Among other things, new vocational training centers should be set up and vocational orientation improved at all types of schools.
