The topic sounds complex and could be worth a lot of money. The federal government would like to invest one billion euros a year in schools with special needs. When converted, that could mean “a good 100 million euros” for Bavaria, estimates Gabriele Triebel, member of the Green Party, on the phone: “every year.” But how the millions would be distributed is unclear. Categories or specifications as to when which schools need special support do not yet exist in the Free State. “Bayern, if they want the money, have to pay in advance,” says Triebel. “We need a social index.”
