The war in the Ukraine evokes memories of his childhood in the cabaret artist Gerhard Polt. “For me personally, it’s a depressing matter that affects me personally,” said Polt German press agencyr in Munich. He sees again the pictures of his childhood in the post-war period in Munich. “I walked through ruins. Then I see these pictures and all these associations come back to me.” He remembers, for example, a house facade that collapsed at the time and buried children under it. That there would be war again – “that’s so bad”.
Of the Passau New Press Polt went on to say that he was convinced that humor was allowed even in times of war. “It’s of no use to the poor dogs in Ukraine if one of us doesn’t laugh,” Polt told the newspaper. “As sad and horrible as that is.” Humor can also be a comfort, but also a distraction and a way of coming to terms with when you can’t deal with a situation. The cabaret artist, filmmaker and author turns 80 on May 7th.
