In order to meet its climate goals, the Bavarian state government is planning to comprehensively relax monument protection. For this purpose, Science and Art Minister Markus Blume (CSU) not only wants to allow more photovoltaic systems on historic buildings, but also facilitates the construction of wind turbines in the vicinity of cultural monuments. “In general, the expansion of renewable energies should have priority,” said Blume on Thursday Süddeutsche Zeitung. He spoke of a “turning point in the preservation of monuments. We want to bring climate protection and monument protection together”. The loosening is to be anchored in the Monument Protection Act and could soon be an issue in the cabinet. According to SZ information, the amendment of the climate protection law is on the agenda there in the coming week.
