Anyone who travels as a beer driver in Bavaria has always been able to experience something. That also applied to Grandpa. For years he drove barley juice across the country in a truck. Only once did something get in the way: a car. A bit unforeseen, grandpa got into the iron, too late, the trailer behind took off over the embankment and dragged everything with it. Luckily it went off without any human damage. When it comes to beer, however, there were painful losses.
Because its load fell with the truck and poured a flood over the road and field. If the stories are to be trusted after so many decades, the onlookers came running straight away. But not so much to check on grandpa. Instead, they are said to have brought tubs with them to collect the valuable water.
And thus to the Kulmbach district, more precisely to Neudrossenfeld, where even the largest tubs now have to reach the limits of their capacity. For years, beer trucks have been knocking out of the curve there on the entrance to the A 70 – which is why it is decried as the “beer curve”. The course of the accident is quite similar. For example, in the fall of 2023, a beer driver took the onramp too quickly. The load began to slide, a good 200 beer crates broke through the side of the ship, bottles shattered and their contents splashed around. “THE BEAUTIFUL BEER!” she complained Picture-Newspaper in capital letters. Or 2020: “The beer curve remains thirsty,” noted the Frankenpost. Accordingly, the police recommended to reporters back then: “Actually, you could take the pictures from the last or second to last accident.”
And now, in February 2024: Of course it crashed again. Back in the “beer curve,” another beer truck, those press photos again, the street a sodden heap of shards. Things really can’t go on like this. There were even calls on social media for a “funeral ceremony” at the scene of the accident. Sure, not entirely serious. Nevertheless, residents should now consider tapping into the “beer curve” with their own beer line, ready to absorb the next flood. Because the next beer truck is definitely coming. And it wasn’t just Grandpa who knew that sometimes everyone else could experience something too.
