Bavaria: Ex-soldier suspected of terrorism fails in court action – Bavaria

A suspected “Reich citizen” and terror suspect from the Bavarian Forest failed in his lawsuit before the Regensburg Administrative Court on Tuesday. It was about a fine that the Freyung-Grafenau district office threatened him with in 2022 after he did not hand in his weapons as ordered. The judge based his verdict on the fact that the man had not adequately justified his statements about the whereabouts of the weapons.

The former Bundeswehr soldier will be part of the group around Heinrich XIII. Prince Reuss, who, according to the German security authorities, is said to have planned a violent overthrow in the Federal Republic. He now stated before the administrative court that he had disposed of the weapons in the Danube at night at the end of 2021 in a kind of farewell ceremony between Deggendorf and Hengersberg. He couldn’t remember the exact location. But he can clearly remember that he had plenty of alcohol and thought about his life. He then threw the dismantled weapons into the water in a sack.

He didn’t want to hand over his weapons to the “authorities” back then. He found it humiliating that he – who served the state as a soldier for 38 years – was accused of not handling weapons properly, he said on Tuesday.

The Freyung-Grafenau district office revoked the man’s firearms license in 2021 and ordered the weapons to be confiscated. According to the judiciary, the reason was that the man was drunk driving and there were indications of the man’s security-threatening and anti-democratic efforts. Since the man did not give up his weapons, his house was searched in January 2022. The weapons did not appear and the authorities imposed fines, which he now sued.

The judge asked why the plaintiff could remember disposing of the weapons and the alcohol, but not the exact location, since soldiers are familiar with maps and locations. The man replied that the exact location wasn’t important to him, he was paying attention to where he could park his car. He wanted to sleep in the car because he planned to drink.

Regarding the gaps in his memory that he brought up at the time, he said that he was in a different phase at the time, around the height of his criticism of Corona and had alcohol problems. At that time, he also came into contact with the topic of “satanic, ritual pedophilia” and started a project to combat it. The issue of ritual cults and pedophilia plays a role in the QAnon movement, for example. The judge interrupted the plaintiff’s rambling statements several times.

When the court pointed out that the plaintiff had stated in January 2022 that the weapons were “with a third person,” the man now said that he thought at the time that no one would believe him anyway that he had put the weapons in the Danube have thrown. That’s why he said they were with a third person. His lawyer later advised him that he should describe everything as it was, which is why he then stated that it was disposed of in the river.

In December 2022, the federal prosecutor’s office accused the plaintiff of, among other things, membership in a terrorist organization. He is therefore in custody. The group around Prince Reuss was broken up in a raid in December 2022. “Reich citizens” and “self-administrators” question the legitimacy of the Federal Republic. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution assumes that around 23,000 people belong to this scene.
