A man has been sentenced to eleven years in prison for manslaughter by the Coburg district court for killing his lover. This was announced by a spokesman for the court on Tuesday. According to the information, the judges saw it as proven that the 30-year-old had killed the then 28-year-old woman in an argument in May last year. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
The married defendant made a partial confession at the beginning of the trial and described how he had had an affair with the woman from Bad Rodach (Coburg district) for a long time. During a dispute in a gazebo, he hit the 28-year-old “with all his might” but did not want to kill her, the man said in a statement to the court.
The case attracted more attention last year because the woman was initially considered missing. With a helicopter, divers and sniffer dogs, the police had been looking for her for days in spring 2022. After about two weeks, the woman’s body was found near the lake near Coburg. A few hours later, the police arrested the now convicted man.
