Bavaria: Death of Klaus Berninger in “Aktenzeichen XY … unsolved” – Bavaria

More than 32 years after the violent death of the baker’s apprentice Klaus Berninger from Lower Franconia, the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved” deals with the case of 1990. The program on June 14th could help to reach possible witnesses who no longer live on the Bavarian Untermain, the police said on Friday. The local population is also being asked for further information.

According to their own statements, the police will be distributing flyers in the Wörth am Main area (Miltenberg district), where the 16-year-old Berninger lived, from Monday to draw attention to the program. In the so-called cold case, the police resumed the investigation a good year ago and, among other things, searched the crime scene again and called on the population to provide information.

According to their own statements, the public prosecutor’s office and the police have now received around 250 tips. The circumstances by which Klaus Berninger died were thus further reconstructed. Berninger disappeared on December 20, 1990. Three days later, walkers found his body in a forest near the small town on the Bavarian-Hessian border. The police assume that the teenager was killed.

The State Criminal Police Office has offered a reward of 10,000 euros for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
