A cyclist collided with a deer near Ortenburg in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau. The 37-year-old fell off the bike and was seriously injured, the police said on Saturday. There are very frequent accidents involving wildlife in the area, but collisions with cyclists are unusual, a spokesman said. At the accident site, the road leads downhill between fields and meadows. The cyclist probably had more speed than on a flat route. Her companion alerted the emergency services. The cyclist was taken to a hospital.
