Bavaria: Commission of Experts on Teacher Training – Bavaria

The state government has set up an “Expert Commission on Teacher Education”. The newly established body met for the first time on Wednesday. According to a joint statement by the Ministry of Science and Education, the aim is to develop proposals that will further develop the teaching profession and make it more attractive for young people.

A conceivable option is that in the future “the practical phases in particular could be intensified and courses could be changed more flexibly during the course of study”. Science Minister Markus Blume (CSU) said that instead of politically decreing reforms, one is building “on the advice of our experts”.

These come from various teachers’ associations and Bavarian universities; a member of the state student council is also part of the commission. The Ministry of Education and Science now want to accompany their work; When the first results could be available is not mentioned in the communication.
